Prasidėjus antrajam nepriklausomybės atkūrimo dešimtmečiui sprendžiama daugybė švietimo reformos ir pedagogikos problemų. Kilo mintis panagrinėti problemas, kurios buvo sprendžiamos pirmojo Lietuvos valstybės atkūrimo dešimtmečio (1918-1928 m.) pabaigoje
The article deals with important issues of Lithuania in the period between the two World Wars on the basis of a publication printed in the magazine “Mokslas ir gyvenimas” (Science and Life) in 1928. The author then comes to a conclusion that the Lithuanian society worked hard during the first decade of independence in order to develop the Lithuanian educational system and to foresee the key guidelines for development of the Lithuanian school and education in Lithuania. They included the following issues: implementing the ideas of activity pedagogy at school, increasing the general level of educators’ qualification, close co-operation between educators and the learners’ families in moral guidance of the learners. On the international level, the following objectives were raised: promoting co-operation between Lithuania and the rest Baltic States as well as orientation towards the system used in western countries. Educational press of the period provided detailed materials of local, regional, national and international educator forums (conferences, seminars, congresses, etc.) including descriptions of discussions, presentations and resolutions. The said materials reflect prevalence of democratic and co-ope- rational ideas in the educational society of the period analysed. They also show the wish to promote teachers’ critical thinking
