Straipsnyje aptariama teorinė šiuolaikinės kompetencijų sampratos problema bei apibūdinamos ateities piliečio kompetencijos. Remiantis tarptautinės organizacijos IEA (International Association for Evaluation of Educational Achievements) atlikto lyginamojo CivEd tyrimo duomenimis, analizuojama Lietuvos moksleivių pilietinė kompetencija. The article explores the development of theoretical concepts such as ’’competencies” during educational process of young citizens as meaningful way of becoming an active citizen in the future society. The main point in this process is that students have not only to adoped themselves into society, but to develop certain competencies for being active creators of this society as well. The author presents some developments of the qualities of the person of tomorrow (Rogers, 1995); developments of “competencies for the good life” (Dupuy, 2001) and some modern educational strategies (education for sustainable development, life long education, education for receiving and creating information and so on). Some of the data from international comparative TEA (International Association for Evaluation of Educational Achievements) Civ Ed study are presented, analysed and comparabled.
