In which way the philosophical thinking can be non-violent? Through the analysis of Emmanuel Levinas one of the major works, Totality and Infinity, the author seeks to make emphasis on Infinity, which is provoked not by rational thinking, but by the Face of the Other. Originally adapted method of phenomenology permits Levinas to create original view to the problem of totality and violence, and to offer an adequate answer to solve this problem. The author analyzes why and how E. Levinas sustains that Ethics is the first philosophy, that Ethics is Metaphysics. J.Derrida and S.Petrosino, as the critics of E.Levinas, suggest the path to better accept original and unreneat Swls tHoiiizH t word book of Emmanuel Levinas. The meeting with the Face of the Other is based in Levinas on Ethics and opens our thought to Infinity, namely through our irrevocable responsibility for the Other.
