Straipsnyje nagrinėjami tradicinio ir konstruktyvizmu grindžiamo mokymo esminiai bruožai. Analizuojama Lietuvos vidurinių mokyklų moksleivių požiūris j chemijos discipli ną, chemijos mokymosi motyvai. Nagrinėjamos moksleivių neigiamo požiūrio į chemiją formavimosi priežastys. Akcentuojamos moksleivių atliekamų eksperimentinių darbų ir informacinių technologijų reikšmė pozityvaus moksleivių požiūrio į chemiją formavimuisi, kritinio ir kūrybiško mąstymo įgūdžių lavinimui. Straipsnyje pateikiamos tyrimo išvados ir rekomendacijos chemijos mokymo ir mokymosi procesui tobulinti.
Chemistiy education faces a number of important recurrent difficulties in many European countlies and Lithuania as well. During the research it was observed that chemistry is the less favourite from all the disciplines taught at the secondary school. It was stated that extrinsic motives ofstudying Chemistry predominate. A significant number of respondents have a lack of motives to study chemistry.
Today, teaching sciences at school still plays a small role in developing computer literacy, scientific and systematic thinking skills. During chemistry lessons, it should be given enough time for experimental works and they should be organized in appropriate way.
Although, problems, which occur in chemistry teaching process at Lithuanian secondary schools, require deeper scientific investigations and solutions to change the present situation, it is possible to stress the following.
The content of chemistry subject should be enriched with themes of modern chemistry science. Doing laboratory works students’ activity should partly reflect experiments of scientists being done at laboratories and apply to data preparation, analysis and interpretation, i.e. scientific thinking functions. Students must be given an opportunity to be aquatinted with modern and prospective fields of chemistry. Teachers ought to provide more information about the prospects, jobs and carries in chemistry field.
