The article analyses peculiarities of the primary school teachers’ professional competence assessment, teachers’ professional activity reliance on their personal qualities. Factors affecting self-development of primary school teachers are analyzed. After Lithuania had joined European Union and became its full member, recognition of qualification became one the most important premises for implementing the principal of free movement of people. In the context globalized educational market, for the academic mobility of educators arose the need to acquire new forms of teaching/learning as well as self-development.
