A developing model of vocational training for persons with mild intellect impairments (Mils) in Lithuania is analysed. The present labour market situation brings to light several essential points which reflect the aim of the research: a) is vocational education accessible for persons with Mils in Lithuania? b) does the developing model of vocational training for persons with Mils create preconditions for vocational adjustment of the disabled? The results of the research revealed some problems in the vocational training of the disabled. After finishing primary vocational training, a disabled person should not lose an opportunity to improve his/her professional qualification, to re-qualify and to receive a continuous professional assistance. At present the system of vocational training in Lithuania is being limited without any reason. The school vocational training model is predominating in which a great importance is given to theoretical instruction and teaching conditions are often distant from real production. Applying a dual model of instruction is presented as an idea enabling to reach optimal results in the vocational training process of persons with disabilities
