Through presentations and exchanges, participants examined how the historical memory of traumatic events, either through the eyes of a community or an individual, influences the present and the future. In addition, speakers noted that the work of creating a collective memory is intrinsically connected to the importance of defending human rights and maintaining amicable international relations, fundamental values on which democracies are built and which Andrei Sakharov promoted his whole life. The Conference Report presents and examines the complex topics that were at the center of attention at the Twelfth International Sakharov conference in 2022.
