The aim of the course is to present the role of the state in dealing with the problems of various minorities and in creating civil society in the Baltic region; to analyze ethnicity and reasons for ethnic discrimination in modern society; and to give sufficient competence to explain the development of ethnic compositions in the Baltic region. The Baltic Region in this class is defined as the Baltic Sea Region and its relation to the neighboring countries. Eric P. Kaufmann, focusing on dominant ethnicity, represents the State’s transformations and participation in the formational process of civil society. His analysis is based on liberal globalisation and multiculturalism that “have compelled nations to transform their identities from an ethnic to a civic mode. This has led, in many cases, to dominant ethnic decline, but also to its peripheral revival in the form of Far Right politics. At the same time, the growth of mass democracy and the decline of post-colonial and Cold War state unity in the developing world have opened the floodgates to assertions of ethnic dominance”. The post-Cold War period opens the way for new directions and changes in the Baltic Sea region.

“Quantitative and Qualitative Research Methods in Sociolinguistics” is a resource book for students in linguistics and most particularly in sociolinguistics or linguistic pragmatics. It focuses on two main research paradigms related to sociolinguistic research, namely quantitative analysis (related to the variationist tradition) and qualitative analysis (related to the ethnographic tradition). The study guide intends to support in-class activities, as well as to serve as a source for independent study.

The aim of the methodical tool is to improve students‘ knowledge and give major guidelines on the writing of BA/ MA thesis or a reasearch paper on the history of a military unit (regiment, batallion, company, batery, etc.), military combination (division, brigade, group, file, etc.), military service (engineering, communication, medical, etc.) or subdivisions (company, group, etc.) of paramilitary organizations (Shooters Union, Scouts Association, Young Lithuania).

Mokomojoje priemonėje pateikiama išnagrinėta ir susisteminta naujausia akademinė literatūra postkolonializmo studijų klausimu, akcentuojant postkolonializmo teorijų pritaikomumą Vidurio ir Rytų Europos visuomenėse. Apžvelgiamos šios temos: tradicinės kolonializmo bei postkolonializmo studijų koncepcijos, Vidurio ir Rytų Europa kaip semi orientalizmo versijos, carinė Rusija kaip kolonija ir kaip kolonistė, sovietinė imperija kaip alternatyvus kolonializmo modelis, politiškumo samprata kolonializmo studijų kontekste bei kolonijinio subjekto pasipriešinimo strategijos, kolonijinio išsivadavimo formos, sąsajos tarp postkomunizmo, postkolonializmo bei postmodernizmo.

Building relationships with customers often becomes the activity that further guarantees successful competition for the organization in ever-changing business world. Various problems based on loyalty building and management are widely analyzed in this book. At the beginning of the book the analysis of customer loyalty in the context of marketing evolution is introduced. Further attention is given to customer loyalty analysis in the managerial aspect, seeking to reveal theoretical attitude of customer loyalty concept, defining the object of loyalty, factors, affecting customer loyalty, benefits and costs obtained by customer loyalty. The book represents the analysis of customer’s loyalty measurement problems. One part of the book contains deep analysis of customer loyalty programs and their use peculiarities. Customer switching behaviour, the motives and reasons for customer switching, factors affecting customer switching behaviour and possibilities for their management are analysed in this book too.

The teaching aid, which is designed for the students, provides condensed knowledge about traditional Lithuanian peasant women and men‘s clothes from ancient times to the beginning of the 20th century as well as a short overview of resources, iconographic materials, research and terminology. The origin of national clothes, folk costumes and the development of its concept in Lithuania and Eastern Europe is being analyzed. Lithuanian traditional costume is discussed in order to reveal its regional originality, to show the diversity of clothes in the territory of the same ethnographic region and to trace the impact of confession, of other nations and social status on peasant‘s costume.
