Tolerance and dialogue are examined as complementary realities. The former is not understood as disregard for objective truth but rather as respect for each person in their search for it. It is a prerequisite for dialogue, understood as mutual progress towards the truth. A transformation of hearts is necessary for genuine tolerance and the resulting dialogue. This is the only way to peace and the progress of peoples.
