132 35 Nuteistų asmenų resocializacijos lūkesčiaiItem type:Publication, [Convicts resocialization expections]research article[2006][S5][S005][14]; Katinaitė, RenataSocialinis ugdymas / Social Education, 2006, vol. 13, p. 79-92Social integration of the convicts and people discharged from the institutions of imprisonment is one of the negotiable issues in our country. Re-socialization phenomenon has been widely discussed in recent scientific educology references following the advanced experience of such countries as Canada, Scandinavia etc. This experience would make the convicts' reintegration process easier and it would prevent criminality, especially the repeated one. According to European experience, the more convicts there are in the society, the higher the level of criminality is: the spread of psychosocial vices starts in the society and in the course of time it is more difficult to control it. Existing re-socialization system of the convicts and people discharged from the institutions of imprisonment in Lithuania is not adequate. The survey aim is to reveal the convicts' re-socialization expectations. The task is 1) to describe the re-socialization state of the convicts with reference to scientific and empirical research data; 2) to reveal the convicts' educational needs. The survey objective is the convicts' re-socialization expectations. Survey results from the European Communities initiative Equal program implementation project "Crossroad: Coalition for Strengthening Equal Possibilities in the Labour Market" have been used in this article. The target group of the survey is 113 convicts (males) at the Lukiskes Inquisition Ward—Prison whose release is due in less than one year. According to the survey data, the conclusion is that people having lower than secondary education commit the majority of crimes. Moreover, younger convicts (18—24 years old) are more motivated from the vocational point of view than people of other age groups. It has also been defined that convicts brought up by their biological parents have warmer and more open relationship with them than those who were not raised in such families. In addition, the majority of convicts.

41 64 Nuteistųjų meninės veiklos organizavimo realijos LietuvojeItem type:Publication, [Integration of arts in resocialization of prisoners in Lithuania]research article[2010][S4][S007][13]; ; Petriešytė, VilmaSocialinis ugdymas / Social Education, 2010, vol. 22, p. 5-17The article analyses problems occurring while implementing arts activities organized for the inmates at the penitentiary institutions in Lithuania. The survey conducted in Lukiškes prison, Vilnius 2nd Correction House and Panevėžys Correction House revealed that fine arts, music and drama activities are carried out there and are useful for the prisoners since their help positively change their system of values and behaviour. But only a small part of inmates have an opportunity to participate in these activities. Artistic activity is one of the ways to direct the creative power of offenders for the positive internal change, to contribute to their better self-understanding and to seek change in their lives and, thus, become useful members of society. It is concluded that it is relevant and necessary to develop artistic activities and/or art therapy activities at Lithuanian penitentiary institutions, to create possibilities for a better accessibility of workshops for convicts and to train competent professionals to carry out this work.
24 40 Socialinio darbo potencialas praktikuojant stipriųjų pusių perspektyvą probacijojeItem type:Publication, [Social work potential in probation through practicing the strengths perspective]research article[2017][S4][S005][21] ;Zavadskienė, JustinaSocialinis darbas. Patirtis ir metodai / Social Work. Experience and Methods, 2017, no. 19 (1), p. 89-109In hopes of a higher crime prevention, a new law was adopted in Lithuania in 2012 – Law of the Republic of Lithuania on Probation. The purpose of this law is the supervision and control of convicts and their successful resocialisation. Convicts or people that have spent some time in detention centres belong to a very specific group of society. Specialists who work with the people from this group should know theories and methods of social work if they want to achieve the resocialisation of the mentioned type of people. The aim of this paper is to identify the potential of social work in probation from the perspective of strengths. A qualitative research method was selected for the analysis, and the data were gathered through a semi-strctured interview. The data obtained were analysed using a content analysis method. The data showed the similarities of activities and roles between the probation officersinspectors and social workers. The inspectors play an important role in the resocialisation of the people on probation: they show support and motivate these people to make positive changes in their lives, as well as cooperate with other institutions that may be interested in the resocialisation of the people on probation. A lot of strength perspectives may be found in the probation activities, since, when working with the people on probation, their internal and external strengths are emphasised and they are motivated to find purposes in their lives. Even though the research showed that one of the biggest strengths of the people on probation is their family, the probation inspectors focus as much on the convicts’ social surroundings and attempt to create a large network of social support around the person under supervision.
