This paper presents the first Lithuanian ontology in the WordNet family that is LitWordNet. The resource that is visualized in RDF/OWL standard is very important for developing and applying language and semantic technologies. Traditional lexical databases are limited to morphological-syntactic properties of words. LitWordNet connects words into the lexical-semantic network. The creation of such a language resource for the Lithuanian language marks a further step towards a breakthrough in the research and development of Lithuanian language technology. The paper describes the creation, context, structure, enlargement, and links to related resources of LitWordNet. The paper ends with an assessment of the current stage of LitWordNet development and presents guidelines for its further development.
