Training of elementary school teachers in Latvia (1918–1940)Item type:Publication, [Pradinės mokyklos mokytojų rengimas Latvijoje (1918–1940 m.)]research article[2013]Šenberga, IlzeIstorija, 2013, vol. 91, no. 3, p. 68-73Based on the reports of the General Directorate (later – Department) for School Affairs of the Ministry of Education and the material from the Latvian State Historical Archives, the article discusses the topics of teachers and their in-service training in the 1920s and 1930s, including the forms and stages of training of elementary school history teachers and the improvement of their qualifications. The courses offered to teachers have been analysed and the purpose of these courses at different stages during the period of establishment of the education system has been demonstrated.
