Research into the history of interwar Kaunas and its legacy, covering various fields, is becoming more and more relevant. With the popularity of the theories of literature topography, narrative space, and possible worlds, literary research is becoming equally important among these studies. And although there are several works analyzing previous texts, the interwar Kaunas text is constantly being updated, therefore it is important to study the works that have just appeared and are gradually merging into the existing text, contributing to the general interwar Kaunas literary myth. Therefore, the aim of the work is to analyze the images of interwar Kaunas in contemporary Lithuanian literature, in the latest novels and books about interwar Kaunas: Antanas Šileika's Provisionally Yours (2019), Ina Pukelytė's Panelės iš Laisvės alėjos (2020) and Giedrė Milerytė-Japertienė's Kai Kaunas buvo Kaunas (2019). Descriptions of interwar Kaunas spaces and places and emerging images were sought in the novels and a book. Review, descriptive, analytical, and comparative methods were used. Theoretical approaches of the research are reviewed – the concept of narrative space, the theory of possible worlds and topography of literature, the authors of the researched works are presented and the emerging images of interwar Kaunas in them are analyzed. In all three novels and book analyzed, the images of the city are changing and contrasting with each other: Provisionally Yours – a modern and Western-level image of the city growing from a backward and provincial city; Panelės iš Laisvės alėjos – the image of a promising city that has great potential, but has died in the grip of occupation and has become a lost paradise; Kai Kaunas buvo Kaunas – an image of a city that experiences the peak of modernity and the golden age, but is not lacking signs of poverty and backwardness. Each novel provides a different approach to the history of the interwar Kaunas city, reflects it as heterogeneous, constantly changing. The images created perpetuate the city in a different way, revealing different aspects, but in all cases, interwar Kaunas firstly and foremost emerges as a changing, growing, and modernizing city.
