It is striven to ensure protection of child rights in families and in children upbringing institutions by using all possible methods. It needs to be emphasized that it is difficult for parents to understand that children have their rights and it is necessary to take them into account. Therefore, when interacting with children parents still violate their rights. That was a stimulus to examine parents' attitudes towards children rights, peculiarities of their respect and defense in the parents and children interaction in Lithuanian pre-school education institutions. The research disclosed that parents partially respect and protect children rights. It was also found that respect of children rights depends upon parents' education, gender, nationality and place of residence.

The relation between spiritual and material values of a 5-6 year old child, his/her national identity peculiarities, tendencies of destructive values formation and some other factors are analysed. Aim of research. To investigate 5-7 year old child’s value system shaped by global knowledge society. Research methods. Interview with a child; collision and problem situations to a child; observation of child’s play. Sampling. 402 5-7 year old children attending education institutions. The research methodology was prepared and the research was conducted by lecturers and Master’s programme students of Childhood Studies Department in 2003-2005. The research results show that a) a child growing in global knowledge society absorbs both positive and negative values at early age; b) a 5-7 year old child is not overmastered by material values- such values as beauty, good, happiness, love, wisdom are still of high importance to him/her; a child possesses a strong sense of national identity; however, one fifth of children admire destructive values; c) a strong influence of television culture on formation of child’s value system has been identified; computer games and films have a more negative influence on child’s values than fairy tales.
