Kaunas : Vytauto Didžiojo universiteto Žemės ūkio akademija, p. 66-69Epidemiological data suggest that physical activity is one of the factors influencing the prevalence of chronic non-communicable diseases. Urban infrastructure, accessibility of the natural environment are the most important factors influencing the physical activity of the citizens. The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between environmental quality assessment, physical activity, and health of Kaunas citizens. Individual data were collected by interviewing 668 Kaunas citizens aged 45-64. We used frequency tables and chi-square criteria to identify factors associated with self-reported health as “poor”. We used multinomial logistic regression model to estimate adjusted odds ratios (aOR) and their 95% confidence intervals (CI). We found that 16.5% of the participants achieved recommended moderate-intensity physical activity (150 min/week). About 17.8% of study participants acknowledged “poor” health. Our findings showed that the participants who’s rated their health as “poor”, a significantly less time spent visiting the city’s green spaces or parks and rare reached recommended physical activity compared to those in the group of the participants with better rating of their health. The findings conform positive physical activity impact on self-reported health.
