Ryšys tarp kauniečių fizinio aktyvumo ir sveikatosItem type:Publication, [The relationship between physical activity and health in Kaunas citizens]research article[2021][S4][N012][4]; ; ; Rapalavičius, AurimasŽmogaus ir gamtos sauga 2021 : mokslo straipsnių rinkinys = Human and nature safety 2021 : selected papers. Kaunas : Vytauto Didžiojo universiteto Žemės ūkio akademija, p. 66-69Epidemiological data suggest that physical activity is one of the factors influencing the prevalence of chronic non-communicable diseases. Urban infrastructure, accessibility of the natural environment are the most important factors influencing the physical activity of the citizens. The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between environmental quality assessment, physical activity, and health of Kaunas citizens. Individual data were collected by interviewing 668 Kaunas citizens aged 45-64. We used frequency tables and chi-square criteria to identify factors associated with self-reported health as “poor”. We used multinomial logistic regression model to estimate adjusted odds ratios (aOR) and their 95% confidence intervals (CI). We found that 16.5% of the participants achieved recommended moderate-intensity physical activity (150 min/week). About 17.8% of study participants acknowledged “poor” health. Our findings showed that the participants who’s rated their health as “poor”, a significantly less time spent visiting the city’s green spaces or parks and rare reached recommended physical activity compared to those in the group of the participants with better rating of their health. The findings conform positive physical activity impact on self-reported health.

Kauno raj., Akademija: : LŽUŪ, 2016, [nr. 22], p. 44-47The world is increasing the incidence of asthma and other allergic diseases. Children allergic causes of disease are unclear. It is believed that the interaction of many factors, including behavioural, environmental factors and genetic factors on pregnant women and others at critical periods of a child's life can increase children's risk of allergies. During the last decade, more attention has been devoted to the impact of the living environment on allergies and asthma seeking to elucidate the role of urban green spaces in children’s chronic diseases. The aim was to evaluate the association between residential greenness exposure, children’s physical activity and asthma among preschool children. Individual data were collected using a standardized questionnaire. Average of NDVI were calculated as estimations of level greenness within immediately accessible neighbourhood 100 meters of every home where various kind of pollen may be expected. Children's physical activity of the children was evaluated by time spent in the park. A multivariate logistic regression analysis was used to determine the relationship between the surrounding greenness, physical activity and childhood asthma. Performed stratified analysis and control of the relationship distorting influence of factors, it found that lower surrounding greenness (NDVI-100 m below the median) and more that 5 hours per week spent in green spaces statistically significantly by 50% reduced the risk of asthma (95% CI 0.26-0.94) compared with that children who spent less time (less 5 hours per week) in green spaces. Physical activity have health benefits and can significantly reduce the risk of childhood asthma in areas with lower exposure of greenness.
