The focus of this article is to present an ancient and very valuable sacral art piece - the picture of the Holy Virgin Mary from Early Baroque. For 300 years before its disappearance in 1940 from Kaunas St. George church, this picture was regarded as the most famous in Lithuania. From 2001 the image of the Holy Virgin is on an altar in Kaunas Cathedral. The comparative analysis of the picture, its history and cult extends our poor knowledge about this object with new information in various aspects; it expands cogitation limits of the phenomenon characteristic especially of Baroque - cult forms of miraculous pictures, which is significant in the studies of cultural singularities of the Great Duchy of Lithuania. Material in this article lets to draw some conclusions. Firstly, the identity of the investigating picture had been established as the unique imitation of the icon of the Częstochówa Holy Mother of God. Secondly, generalized to all available facts of history, technological research, restoration and analysis of pictures elements and stylistic peculiarity enable this picture to date the end of XVI century - the beginning of XVII century. The sacred picture of the Holy Virgin Mary from Kaunas St. George church is distinctive and original creation, which could be interesting not only for Lithuania, but also for Polish creations of the Mary in the context of iconography. It's true to say that the image of the Holy Virgin Mary from Kaunas is the earliest imitation of the icon of the Częstochówa Holy Mother of God in the Great Duchy of Lithuania
