Straipsnyje atskleidžiami pastoraciniai homiletikos tikslai Bažnyčios misijinėje perspektyvoje, pristatoma kritinė prieitis ir iššūkiai, su kuriais susiduria pamokslininkai šiandien, apibrėžiama homilijos vieta liturgijoje, aptariami pamokslininko pasirengimui keliami reikalavimai, išryškinama pamokslo reikšmė keliaujančiai Dievo tautai, tikinčiųjų bendruomenei.
Life in modern society, including the faithful, is overfull with information. Therefore, the question is whether there is a place for the Gospel given the overflow of information. Homiletics is a discipline of pastoral theology dedicated to the ministry of the word of God. It discusses widely Church’s call, the interpretation of the Scripture, the understanding of the word of God and human, analyses the conditions, possibilities, language, conveyance and competence of the sermon. The word of God is meant for the plentitude of life that people “might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly” (John 10:10). Thus, one of the most important goals of homiletics is to educate preachers so that they would be able to share the word of God in a way which would be open for peoples’ problems, answer their questions, broaden their virtues and their objectives to implement them. The aim of this article: to reveal modern goals of homiletics in the Church’s missionary perspective. Goals: • To provide critical access and challenges that preacher deals with today; • To describe the place of the homily in the liturgy; • To discuss requirements applicable for the preparation of preachers; • To highlight the meaning of sermon for the wandering God’s nation, the community of the faithful. Challenges arising for the preacher indicate several critical aspects applicable for sermons. In order for the sermon to be well prepared and understood adequately, there needs to be a proper consideration of the issue of faith enculturation related to the new Evangelism, scientific achievements and listeners’ intelligence, preacher’s calling as a witness of the Gospel.
