Abstract: The professor Joseph (Józef) Saunders had delivered the first lecture on history of art at the Faculty of Literature and Art of Vilna University on 15th of September in 1810. The lecture was entitled: Discours sur l‘influence ou l‘utilité des arts imitatifs / The discourse on the Influence and Use of Mimetic Arts (the original text was in French, the translation to Polish was published in “Pamiętnik Magnetyczny”, 1816). The Publishing House Tako had republished the book by Joseph Saunders Discours sur l’influence ou l’utilité des arts imitatifs together with nowadays articles by Jerzy Malinowski and Inessa Svirida in 2011
