Kritinė teorija ir kultūros politika : monografija
[Critical theory and politics of culture]
    book[2026][K1a][H001][366]

Faith, conflict, and community in Vandžiogala parish: Lithuanian–Polish relations from 1918 to 1940
[Streszczenie wiara, konflikt i wspólnota w parafii Vandžiogala: relacje litewsko-polskie w latach 1918–1940]
    book part[2026][Y1][H005][20]

The Vandžiogala parish stood out due to its unique historical processes and ethnic composition, which remain distinctive to this day. Of particular interest is Vandžiogala’s affiliation with the Liauda region a local unit that remains underexplored in historiography but is marked by unique cultural expressions. This local distinctiveness contributed to the fact that a large Polish population lived in close proximity to Kaunas. During the interwar period, Lithuanian national policy fostered a distinct and often antagonistic attitude toward the Polish ethnic community. Therefore, this study focuses on the period from 1918 to 1940, when complex Lithuanian-Polish relations were strongly expressed in the parish alongside broader social, cultural, and historical processes. These problematic relations were most often reflected in the daily lives of parishioners, with conflicts frequently spilling over into pastoral life. The parish clergy found themselves in an ambiguous position having to navigate between differing national expectations.

    Widok z Litwy na Krasnogrudę

    research article[2026][S1b][H005][7]
    Konteksty. Polska sztuka ludowa, 2026, vol. 352, no. 1, p. 65-71

War in Ukraine stirs fear among the populations of Central and Eastern Europe. The Suwałki Gap whimpers with painful recollections. A thin layer of time conceals stories of the traumatic past of Soviet and Nazi crimes, and deeper – grim recollections of the Polish-Lithuanian conflict of 1919–1923. When the authors of the Krasnogruda Kastalia transferred their life abroad the world was just beginning to use Francis Fukuyama’s “end of history” metaphor. Today, however, we see that history has returned and new borders arise with a speed characteristic for algorithms. If something terrible was to take place in the least safe place in present-day Europe the followers of the “Borderland” idea know how they would certainly not act in the face of an unfamiliar future.

[French as aesthetic experience and linguistic practice: between cultural uniformization and freedom in the age of globalization]
    research article[2026][V3][H001][18]
    Logos, 2026, vol. 127, p. 82-99

The article explores the history of student organizations that existed in 1920s and 1930s in the Republic of Lithuania and the Republic of Latvia. The authors focus on relatively less-known aspects of the activities of Polish student associations at the University of Lithuania (Vytautas Magnus University) and the University of Latvia, introducing some new sources to the research. Their research substantially expands the existing knowledge regarding the performance of the associations (the Union of Polish Students in Kaunas and Polish Academic Association) and fraternities like ‘Znicz’, ‘Lauda’, ‘Antavia’ in Kaunas, ‘Fraternitas Inflantica’ and ‘Plateria’ in Riga. The article also provides an analysis of the periodicals Iskry and Głos Młodych

Šiame straipsnyje aptariama minkštųjų veiklų samprata teoriniu aspektu bei analizuojamas jų pritaikomumas istorinėje Kauno tvirtovėje. Straipsnyje akcentuojamas minkštųjų veiklų festivalis „Fort union“ bei atliekamas kokybinis tyrimas, kurio respondentai – „Fort union“ festivalio dalyviai.

Polski teatr w Wilnie from the Soviet era to the present: continuity, change, and cultural identity

From its origins in 1962 to its reestablishment in 1965, the Polski Teatr w Wilnie became a space for keeping Polish language, memory, and belonging alive. During the Soviet period, theatre balanced patriotic repertoire with ideological caution. Additionally, touring kept dispersed communities connected. After the restoration of independent Lithuania in 1990, theatre faced minimal local institutional support. The ensemble relied on voluntary effort and Polish sponsorship. Despite hardships, the theatre evolved: it artistically engages younger voices, experiments with form, and addresses contemporary identity struggles. Productions like POP-EZJA and Robczik show their commitment to both heritage and novelty. For over sixty years, Polski Teatr w Wilnie has remained not just a stage, but a multigenerational community and a space for cultural expression.
