Links between the IVth grade pupils' achievements in mathematics and IT applications in teaching mathematics

The article presents the summarised results of the research carried out in 2010-2012. The practice of IT application by teachers and pupils for teaching (learning) Mathematics in classroom and at home was under analysis, the attitude of primary school teachers towards their competence of IT application in pupils teaching (learning) Mathematics was explored. It was analysed what teaching (learning) activities by involving a computer are performed by teachers, what tasks pupils are assigned to perform in classroom and at home. All responses by teachers and pupils were linked to Mathematical achievements of pupils of different ability groups; differences in the impact by pupils‟ gender were estimated. The identified statistically significant relationships make presumptions for a more objective evaluation of a forming practice of IT application in teaching (learning) Mathematics in primary school and envisaging dangers of a negative technology impact.
