Abstract (en)
Green chemistry has become a major driving force for organic chemists to develop environmentally benign routes for the preparation of organic compounds. A particularly attractive approach is based on ultrasound and microwave promoted heterocyclization reactions of suitably functionalized substrates. In this work 5-cyano-2-methylsulfanyl-4(3H)-pirimidinone was synthesized from ethyl (E)-2-cyano-3-(S-metilizotioureido)-2-propenoate using thermal, microwave and ultrasound irradiation.
