The article analyzes the problems of prospective primary school teachers’ musical culture development. The musical culture of the teacher is not only his ability to play music, but it is also the ability to read 9in relation to the aesthetic and emotional aspect) into the music the individual’s state, his or her spiritual world, relations with oneself, others, the environment and the being. The authors stress the holistic principle of musical development. Under this principle pupils discover the aesthetic-spiritual essence of the musical piece, which makes them think about it and evaluate the piece personally. The teachers’ mature musical culture is important for the whole array of their pedagogical activities, because this culture humanizes the process of education.
