Abstract: Reaserch was carried out in 2019 years at Laboratory of Agrobiotechnology in the Institute of Biology and Plant Biotechnology of Vytautas Magnus University. Research object was three spring wheat varieties „Wicki“, „Quintus“ and „KWS Collada“. The plants of tested varieties were affected by chemical based plant growth regulator „Cycocel 750 SL“ (active ingredient: chlormequat-chloride 750 g l-1 and 1125g l-1) in early growth stage – BBCH 12. Research results confirmed, that 750 g l-1 of chlormequat-chloride did not have significant effect on root length. 1125 g l-1 rate essentially inhibited root length of ‘Wicki’ and ‘Quintus’ and stimulated variety „KWS Collada“. Both rates of chlormequat-chloride stimulated root length of third variety, but had no essential effect was found
