Abstract: Chlorophyll fluorescence of leaves of different age and different cultivars of fodder galega {Galega onrientalis Lam.) was measured in the cultivars Vidmantai, Laukiai, Melsviai and the breeding line L04-4. The levl of fluorescence can be used to estimate the intensity of photosynthesis and is related with biosynthetic activity and biomass yield. The maximum level of fluorescence was that of the 2nd and the 3rd leaf ranks. The indices of fluorescence (Ft in steady-state light and maximal Fm fluorescence, quantum yield of electron transport Yand electron transport rate ETR) differed significantly across cultivars but were not correlated with yield
