The objective of this study was to investigate the effect of cytokinins (TDZ and BAP) and auxins (NAA and 2,-4 D) on callus growth of caladium (Caladium bicolor (Aiton) Vent.) petiole explants in vitro. Research was investigated at the Institute of Biology and Plant Biotechnology Faculty of Agronomy Aleksandras Stulginskis University in 2017–2018. Sterile petiole explants were cultured on Murashige and Skoog's (MS, 1962) medium supplemented with cytokinin 6-benzyladenine (BAP) (0.1- 1.0 mg1-1) or thidiazuron (TDZ) (0.1- 1.0 mg1-1) in combination with 0.2 mg1-1 NAA or 2,4- D. It was found that maximum growth index (54.4) of caladium callus biomass were obtained from the explants cultured on MS medium supplemented with 1.0 mgL-1 TDZ in combination with 0.2 mg1-1 NAA.
