Traditional methods of conical surfaces manufacture comprise machining (turning, grinding), cross-wedge rolling, and dimensional electrochemical machining. However, they do not allow forming conical surfaces on parts of small diameter (less than 1 mm) and nonrigid parts whose ratio of length to transverse dimension is 12 or more. New method based on the dimensional electrolyte-plasma treatment (EPT) has developed to solve the problem of forming conical surfaces of small diameter. The method consists in the gradual uninterrupted extraction of the initial cylindrical workpiece from the electrolyte at a variable velocity. The velocity of the workpiece extraction from the electrolyte during treatment depends on vvorkpiece diameter, the required dimensions of the formed conical surface and the technological parameters of EPT that determine the rate of metai removal. As a result of the implementation of the work the characteristics of metai removal velocity during the formation of conical surfaces by the dimensional EPT were investigated. As well as technique for calculating the regularity of extension the cylindrical workpiece from an electrolyte was developed (as dependence that characterizes the change of extension velocity from extension altitude) to produce a conical surface with the reąuired parameters which take into account the diameter of the vvorkpiece and the technological parameters of EPT. The processes of forming conical surfaces with a diameter of 0.2-1.0 mm and the length of the working part of 14-21 mm, used for ultrasonic sealing the filling material when filling tooth root canals was developed on the base of results of the research.
