Abstract: Using modern technology, freight and passenger transport systems has been rapidly developing in all over the world which affected rapid globalization process. Globalization has paralelly influenced logistics negative impact on climate change as one of the main pollution sources and resource users. Even though, there is rising awarness to the environmental issues and EU transport policy is working on establishing environentally friendly, effiecient, competetive and safe transport system- there is no exact model for implementing the strategy of „green“ logistics. The main purpose of this work is to present the main factors influencing companies to establish the „green“ logistics as an element of sustainable development. The proposed model of establishing „green“ logistics is the initial basis for setting up an appropriate one for Lithuania
