Abstract: Public investment projects differ from business projects of a source of funding and the aim – to achieve social benefits for society. Risk assessment plays a big role in public projects. It helps to make decision to invest or not invest in project. The main reason why is necessary to assess the risk in public project – it is estimation the social risk factor. It means, that for some reason the project can take advantage of a lower than expected number of members of the public. The best result will be achieved in risk assesment, when valuation method will be chosen taking into account the nature of the project, objectives, and other important factors
