One of the directions for oilseed rape pod sealants improvement is the reduction surface tension of sealant solutions and assurance of an elastic thin film formed on to pods. In this work, we carried out a complex technological study of available oilseed rape pod sealants (PS), which chemical composition are based on: terpene polymer (PS1), carboxylated styrene butadiene copolymer with alky! phenyl hydroxyethylene (PS2). turpentine resin (PS3) and polyether-polysiloxane copolymer with styrol-acrylate copolymer (PS4) by assessing the natural (spontaneous) rapeseed losses and losses incurred due to the combine effects during harvesting. The lowest static surface tension was 21 mN/m of 0.1% solution of the product PS4. During field trials it was found that by using rape pods sealants rapeseed losses can be reduced about 35%.
