Abstract: The paper presents the test results of smoke opacity of the exhaust of direct injection diesel engine. As an exclusive difference of the experiments conducted can be stated the use of preliminary preparation of the fuel in the diesel injector, which includes placing a thin catalyst film and producing the turbulent cuts-in on the idle surface area of the injector's needle-valve. The test results show that preliminary preparation of the fuel by using the catalytic effect within the nozzle of injector significantly contributes to reducing of smoke opacity of the exhaust
