Abstract: The article presents the performance and exhaust smoke results of a single-cylinder, air coole direct-injection diesel engine, operating on pure rapeseed oil and rapeseed oil treated wii 0.08vol%, 0.12vol%, 0.20vol% by volume, cetane improver, 2-ethylhexyl-nitrate. Using of cetane improver, 2-ethylhexyl-nitrate, of 0.12vol% the brake specific fuel consumption reduced to minimum value of 268 g/kWh, which was 1.5% lower than that measured for me; rapeseed oil case (272 g/kWh). The smoke opacity produced by the combustion of treate (0.12vol %) rapeseed oil was only 3.9% compared to that of 5.4% for meat rapeseed oil, i. e. it was reduced 28%
