Abstract: Required power of tractor engines for farms of different size was proposed. It was established that while arable land area on farm decreases, tractor engine power per 1 ha of arable land increases. A tractor type according to draught classes and a number of tractors were proposed for farms of different size. A farm with 3 to 10 ha of land is recommended to have tractors of 6 kN draught class, farmers owning 10–30 ha of land are recommended to use 14 kN class tractors, farms of 30–50 ha of size should purchase one 14 kN class tractor and one 6 kN class tractor, 50–200 ha size farms – one 30 kN and one 14 kN class tractors, 200–400 ha size farms – one tractor of 50 kN and two or three tractors of 14 kN class. Large size farms make their tractor fleet of 14, 30 and 50 kN class tractors
