Abstract: The article presents technical economic indicators of agricultural machinery and its sets on the grounds of the analysis of modern crop production technologies. Grouping of the country’s farms was made according to the size of land-tenures and a set of modern machinery was substantiated for a 30-50 ha farm size prevailing in Lithuania. By using the methods of calculating an economic and minimal working area comparative capacity of power means was substantiated taking into account a working land area. Economic methods were used to establish the minimal land area to be worked on by agricultural machinery, when it is expedient to purchase own mechanization means or use the services of agroservice providers. The work results substantiated the background for a more efficient use of capital investments to purchase mechanization means at the same time reducing production cost and increasing its competitiveness
