Keywords: In Lithuania one of the prioritized energetics objectives is the use of renewable energy sources. It has been defined in the Energy Law and the National Strategy of Energetics of the Republic of Lithuania (RL). The Energy Law sets the objectives of regulating energetics activities and promotion of local and renewable energy sources and the National Strategy of Energetics focuses on the importance of developing the use of renewable and local energy sources. It formulates the main provisions for reconstruction and development of the Governmental Energy Economy up to 2020. The main environmental directions of the nearest future call for giving fuel use priority to local and renewable energy sources taking into account environmental and economic aspects of using these sources. It has also been provided for creating favourable conditions for biofuel (denatured dehydrated ethyl alcohol, oils of biologic origin, methyl and ethyl esters) production development.
