Experiment was carried out at the Experimental Station of Aleksandras Stulginskis University in 2010-2011. Soil type - Hapli-Epihypogleyic Luvisol. The aim of the experiment was to determine the influence of sowing time on the yield of winter oilseed rape formation at the warming autumn-winter period of different duration. Treatments of the experiment - sowing dates: 1) August 10, 2) August 20, 3) August 30, 4) September 5, 5) September 10, 6) September 15; factor B - cultivar: 1) conventional 'Sunday', 2) hybrid 'Kronos'. Sowing time significantly influenced over¬wintering of oilseed rape under the cold winter conditions - only winter rape sown on August 10 and 20 over-wintered Sowing time had a significant effect on biometric parameters of winter rape in autumn before wintering. The cultivar significantly influenced the number of leaves per plant of winter rape sown in August. The number of branches and pods per plant was affected by sowing time. The cultivar didnt affect following parameters. Sowing time had no significant influence on the number of seeds per pod and the mass of 1000 seeds of winter rape of conventional cultivar but significantly influenced following parameters of winter rape of hybrid cultivar. Significant influence of cultivar on the mass of 1000 seeds of the earliest sown winter rape was established. Sowing time and cultivar significanth influenced seed yield of winter rape.
