Large quantities of animal by-products arise in poultry factories such as poultry manure, slaughter waste and sewage sludge. Due to the high risk of contamination of the environment and spread of pathogens, processing and use of waste is restricted. It can be processed into biogas under the EU regulation concerning animal by-products not intended for human consumption. The possibilities of anaerobic treatment of wastes from poultry factories have been investigated in this paper. Results show that analysed waste can be used for biogas production. The high enough (59.5 – 63.3 %) methane concentration has been determined in biogas. Such biogas is suitable for energy conversion. Energy value from dry organic matter of poultry waste varies between 11.5 and 12.8 MJ/kg.
