Abstract (en)
The article discusses the relationship between rural spiritual development and sustainable development in general. The treatment of these concepts is quite controversial, but the issue is not a theoretical one. The aim of the article is to disclose whether rural development strategy in Lithuania corresponds to the strategy and concept of sustainable development. Sustainable development and rural development should be seen as interrelated processes. A cultural spiritual element is an important connection between them. A priority to economic factors and, particularly, to income sometimes overlooks the fact that material wealth does not always coincide with the quality of life and welfare in general.
