Abstract (en)
The article examines the change in the rural population in the administrative districts of Lithuania. The factors influencing the population decline were determined, which were the conditions of agriculture, uneven process of agrarian reform, the availability of farm inputs, the intensity of use of agricultural land, the increasing the number of small or vanished villages. There were proposed " measures for the development of sustainable territorial systems such as viable villages and competitive farms, as well as using of territorial planning documents and legal and economic means of state regulation.
