Abstract: The efficiency of thread joints depends on rationally selected tightening force which depends on the moment of tightening respectively. This is influenced by the manufacturing-based deviations of the geometrical parameters of the thread from the nominal values. As a result, the accuracy of tightening force varies by +/- 25 %. It was determined that the distribution of load and strains in the turns of the thread depends on the deviation of the thread profile angle from the nominal value. In case external screw lead is larger than internal screw lead, the load in the first turns (with respect to supporting surface) significantly increases
