People always come with such things like actions, treatments etc., which are necessary or unavoidable and with things they have possibility to make a choice. Before the certain choice people make priorities. To foresee, renew and evaluate the trends of rural development in Lithuania according to the conception of the integrated village the experience and regulations of the EU countries were used. Unemployment in countryside is one of the most important problems at the current period. Quite special structure of the labour market was formed in Lithuania as in other post-communistic countries. Whereas economical situation in 1991-1993 was pretty difficult, many people decided to work in agriculture instead of unemployment. Unfortunately prolonged land reform, undeveloped land market, obsolete industrial facility, and slow economical development limited development of agriculture. Unemployment, low prices of agriculture production and amiss payments for farmers' production, low rural areas economical activity make negative influence on the incomes and life quality of villagers. There are no differences between living standards in city and village in developed Europe countries. Living standards are not only related to living place but to social economical housekeeping status, housekeeping members' position in labour market and held appointment. The differences between living standards in village and city in Lithuania of late years became bigger. The research of rural social development shows that the living standards of villagers are lower than of citizens. The demographical situation of villagers, high unemployment, and small farms makes great influence on the living standards in rural areas. Families in rural areas are in greater necessity than city families. It's very important to create new workplaces in agriculture, encourage alternative business and possibilities to get proper education for the same life level of village and city.
