Abstract: The 1-arylsubstituted 1,4,5,6-tetrahydropyridones were synthesized by interaction of N-aryl-b-alanines and ethyl acetoacetate. Reactions of 1-(4-bromophenyl)-2-ethoxycarbonyl-1,4,5,6-tetrahydro-4(1H)pyridone with hydrazine derivatives were carried out. The ionization potential was measured by the electron photoemission in air method. The results of the measurements confirm that the materials may be synthesized with the ionization potential typical of the hole transporting materials
