Abstract: Since the beginning of the XXth century till nowadays the relation between theater and text (drama) remains one the most important theater theory problems. For a long time in West European theater tradition the text was the primary element in theater. From the beginning of the XXth century Theatricality visually begins to dominate, the relation between theatre and text start changing. In this study two ways of theater and text relationships are distinguished: logocentric-dramacentric (text is in the center of the theater), postdramatic ( text is one of many theater elements). In the first part of the study these two conceptions is being discussed. In this study I examine what relations of theater and text are dominant in Lithuanian theater and how they are changing nowadays. To accomplish this goal I make an analysis of main Lithuanian theater performances from past year. My task was to look over how text is used by directors G.Varnas, J.Vaitkus, R.Tuminas, O.Korsunovas and theater groups “Miraklis,, (dir. V.Vaiciunaite) and ,,Gliukai”(dir. B.Sarka). This analysis shows that several different examples of text usage exist in Lithuanian theater.Differences between logocentric and postdramatic ways is not very clear in Lithuania. The problem of the text is not new in Lithuanian theatrology. This question was raised by B.Sruoga and developed by A.Samulionis, G.Mareckaite. In other hand this problem was not examined very deeply. Nowadays the relation between theater and text goes through lot of changes , and needs new approaches. One can see the lack of theoretical works on this subject. This study is the first attempt to return to the problem of text in Lithuanian theatrology
