Abstract: Lithuanian folk legends about people who see dead souls are under re-search in the article. The variants recorded in Lituvininkai region and the analogous variants from the other regions of Lithuania are compared in it. The author strives to find out similarities and fragment of German Order contract with Prussians signed in Christburg in 1249 and its relation to folklore tradition Many variants of legend about people seeing dead souls (69 from 74 known texts) were recorded by Vilius Kalvaitis in lietuvninkai region in the end of 19th century and in the very beginning of 20th century. Analogous variants (83 texts) are recorded by various collectors in the other region of Lithuania. […]
