Abstract: Tirtas erkių Ixodes ricinus paros ir sezoninis aktyvumas Vilniaus rajone 2001-2002 metais. Nustatyti du erkių sezoninio aktyvumo pikai. Polimerazinės grandininės reakcijos (PGR) su specifiniais pradmenimis metodu ištirtos 477 erkės iš aštuonių Lietuvos rajonų. Nustatytas erkių užkrėstumo spirochetomis Borrelia bugdorferi sensu lato lygis (nuo 0% iki 33%). Šiuo metodu Lietuvoje erkės tiriamos pirmą kartą
A study was carried out to evaluate the natural rate of Ixodes ricinus infection with Borrelia burgdorferi sensu lato. Four hundred seventy seven ticks collected in different districts of Lithuania were tested individually for the presence of pirochetes using the polymerase chain reaction techniques enabling to identify Borrelia. The infection rate ranged from 0% to 33%. That was the first extensive study of tick-borne Lyme borreliosis in Lithuania to employ molecular methods of investigation. Seasonal distribution and daily activity of I. ricinus were investigated, too. The generalised data for 2001-2002 show the highest number of I. ricinus to be registered in May, their number declining in June and July and increasing in August and September
