Abstract: The article analyses influence of genetic polymorphisms for developement of meningococcal infection. We discuss main polymorphisms, that acts on menigococcal colonisation and disease severity, such as antibody receptors, lipopolysacharide binding protein, congenital complement proteins, cytokins and hemostasis system deffects. Genetic variety opens better understanding of pathogenesis of menigococcal disease and helps identify individuals, that are at risk to develope or die from severe menigococal disease
