Straipsnyje nagrinėjami žemiausiojo lygmens vadovų tinkamumo vertinimo gamybos įmonėse klausimai. Išskirta formali artimiausia žemiausiojo lygmens vadovų veiklos aplinka valdymo grandinėje: TV–ŽLV– PAV, kur TV – tiesioginis vadovas; ŽLV – žemiausiojo lygmens vadovas ir PAV – pavaldiniai. Tikslinga atlikti ŽLV tinkamumo vertinimą. Tam pasirinkta kiekybinė anketinė apklausa, kurioje dalyvavo 255 respondentai iš penkiolikos didelių Lietuvos baldų gamybos įmonių. Straipsnyje pristatoma atlikto tyrimo apie ŽLV tinkamumą konkrečioje valdymo grandinėje (TV–ŽLV–PAV) rezultatų analizė. Tyrimo rezultatai parodė, kad vertinimo kriterijų tinkamumo laipsnis valdymo grandinėje (TV–ŽLV–PAV) labai priklauso nuo to, kiek sutampa vertinimai tarp grandžių.
