Living under the conditions of dynamic changes - the formation of free market relationships, entrance to the European Union - Lithuania together with other states of the world entered the period of constant development, which is affected by a number of factors. Clarke (2001) distinguishes globalisation and implementation of information and communication technologies to be the main factors causing change and claims that in the new society individuals, communities and organisations will sustain only if they learn to keep apace with changes and impact them. Ulrich (1998) notes that new regularities of people’s life are being formed in today’s world with disappearing distances, under rapid development of knowledge-based economy, which is sometimes called digital or network economy. In this context, seeking to adapt or respond to the challenges caused by the change, not only individuals but also organisations and their structure undergo various transformations. Thus, new organisation forms and types appear. Some of them are learning and network organisations; their appearance is dated as far as the end of the 20th century when rapid knowledge and change dynamics was observed, societal demands, competition between organisations and rapid recovery and growth of the society increased.[...].
