In the context of change of teaching and learning forms, the need arises to analyse the factors influencing the changes of teaching methods and the use of information and communication technologies (ICT) in teaching. One of the groups of such factors belongs to teacher motivation. Motivation is a complex phenomenon which depends on lots of conditions. It is interesting to look at motivation phenomenon applying K. Lewin field theory [12]. It results into an interesting schematic expression bringing further inspirations to research in this field, to prepare recommendations and solutions to formulate strategies at education institutions. This article presents the idea that will be further developed by the authors of this article. Distance learning (DL) centres, especially at Colleges and Universities, are responsible for teacher training in using ICT, as well as applying new DL methods. Researchers at Kaunas University of Technology and Alytus College implemented the research on motivation factors, and the research was continued within Lithuanian Distance Education Network aiming at the overview of the current situation among teachers and trainers and at encouraging teachers to use new teaching methods and to enter the new teaching-learning culture.
