Abstract: It is shown, that tourism became the main branch of economical activity for some countries. The expansion of tourism always stimulated the revival of other economical fields such as systems of transport, food industry, building industry. Entertainments' business also receive new scales of growth. Now the most useful for Lithuania is to expand fast the incoming tourism, which is recognized as priority field of industry. Fast expansion of a rural tourism is problematic: there is a lack of market research. According to the prognosis, the number of the incoming tourists should increase the next year about 4.53 million foreigners, among them 1..39 million - one right stay. The number this year. The number this year should decrease visitors in hotels about 4 percent. Though in Lithuania will be established a few new hotels. The market tourism is filled rapidly with the new rural farmsteads. At the moment there is a distribution of the rural farmsteads in the district of Lithuania- 45 percent farmsteads in Aukstaitija, 34 percent in Zemaitija, 15 percent in Dzukija and 6 percent farmsteads in Suvalkija. A lack of experience and knowledge in sphere of publicity and image formation as a country of the tourism is the main obotacle for the quick incoming tourism development. Now, though Lithuania is a state of redundant recreative and tourism. The siutable use of all resources of Lithuania gives a possibility receive about 0.3 million tourists at once. In season time there would be enough space in a natural surrounding for 2 million visitors. Continuous atractive publicity, constant service improving and resources may soon create a postitive Lithuanian image as the country of tourism, including the rural tourism, but a parralel quick installing at the coplex organizational means is also needed
